Facility to train contract workers at IISCO steel plant

The inauguration of Sambhav – Capability and Competency Development Centre (CCDC), first of its kind in Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) at IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) in Burnpur has been launched to upskill the contract workers.

Incidentally, IISCO Steel Plant is all set for the next phase of expansion.

A dedicated hands-on training facility for contractual workforce of ISP, Burnpur named Sambhav: Capability and Competency Development Centre (CCDC) was inaugurated today at the renovated archaic building of IISCO.

The facility houses mechanical and electrical workshops for practical training as fitters, riggers, welding & gas cutting technicians and electricians, with specialisation in maintenance, motor testing and earthing works.

The inauguration was done by Brijendra Pratap Singh, director in-charge of (Burnpur and Durgapur Steel Plant) and graced by the presence of functional heads, CGMs, and sectional heads.

It aims to foster skill enhancement, safety awareness, and multi-skilling, aligned with our commitment to workforce development and operational excellence.

The electrical workshop has been developed in-house by the ERS dept team and the mechanical workshop by HMM capital repair team.

Town services department renovated the entire premises and overall coordination of setting up and facilities at CCDC was done by HR-L&D Centre team.

“This milestone reflects our collective vision to build a skilled, competent, and future-ready workforce at ISP,” said Brijendra Pratap Singh.
